A great little walk to get your legs into gear is the Illawong Walk from Guthega Village.
The Illawong Walk to 5.49km return walk from Guthega Village to a suspension bridge across the Snowy River. The majority of the walk is a gentle incline/decline with some short steeper sections at the beginning/end.
The best part of the walk is that it follows the shoreline of Guthega Dam and the Snowy River. When we went through the Snowy was running pretty strong and whilst tempting (clear and cold), it was probably too strong and banks too steep to go swimming. However if you continue about 700m from the Illawong Bridge to the Spencers Creek Bridge, there is a great spot to cool off.
The walk is through the open alpine heath so it is always a good idea to take water , sunscreen and some wet weather gear
