On The Farm

It’s a good idea to stop at Canberra, in Cooma, at the Shut the Gate local providore at Berridale, or in Jindabyne for provisions. The IGA and organic shop The Market both supply excellent local sourdough Iron Pot which is always in high demand. The Jindabyne Butcher supplies fresh local meat, cheese and smoked trout.

There are several great dining locations at Big Yard Farm. The eight-seater dining table is positioned cosily next to the open fire. Table linen is stored in the sideboard.

Outside in the protected alove, a table pairs with benches by Australian company Robert Plumb for easy lunches and early dinners.

If the weather is warm, a trestle table, outdoor chairs and umbrella opens up options for long lunches in the garden. Just pick a spot!

The small kitchen garden is a work in progress and supplies some seasonal vegetables, fruits and herbs including summertime raspberries and blueberries, broadbeans and spinach. Guests are welcome to help themselves to whatever is ripe and ready during their stay.

The kitchen is well stocked for the keen home cook and includes table settings for up to 10 guest a full range of frypans, saucepans and casseroles, platters and cheeseboards plus cake tins and mixing bowls. A full range of quality glassware includes wine and champagne glasses, tumblers, gin glasses and coffee glasses.
